Restaurant Friday {Street Food September}: Markthalle Neun, Brunch Market, Berlin

by - Friday, September 26, 2014

A final Restaurant Friday post for my {Street Food September} month: A Street Food Brunch Market. Is there more you could ask for?! No. This really nice market, taking place every third Sunday of the month is great for post-hangover mingling or just chilling out, having coffee with a waffle, an Asian omelette or sticky breakfast rice. You will probably find almost every morning dish you could imagine here. It is located quite well (Berlin Kreuzberg) so you can stroll around the neighborhood afterwards, or go to the Friedrichshain flea market, or simply go home.

I won't write much about the market, because pictures sometimes speak for themselves. It is a pretty busy market, hard to find a place to sit and sometimes kind of long-ish queues in front of the popular food stands. But, if you wait for a little while you will definitely find a place to sit, the long queues seem more frightening than they are and finally the busy atmosphere is rather a vibrant and vivid kind of feeling characterizing in the Markthalle.

So overall: great place, good food..maybe a bit pricey compared to other Berlin locations. I had great coffee, a pulled pork bun with a poached egg, pickled celery, bacon and a pretty damn good BBQ sauce and my dessert was a sugared Focaccia which was very good, too.

Go there, have a look, it is definitely worth it!
